Her blood type is O, and according to Japanese tradition, type O is "strongly purpose oriented, independent, takes chances, has a dramatic life, dislikes subordination, can be self centered is romantic, expressive and straightforward."

Eriko's tarot affiliation is Judgement.

Eriko's first persona is Nike. As Eriko herself explains, Nike was the winged goddess of victory, a servant of the goddess Athena, and the goddess upon whom Judeo-Christian angels were based. There's a temple to Nike next to the Parthenon.

Nike's spells: Maha Garu, Diarama, Holy Light, Mafui, Raku Kaja, Maha Garula, Hama

Eriko's ultimate persona is Gabriel. The archangel Gabriel was the messenger sent to announce the births of John the Baptist and Jesus, and is one of the three angels mentioned specifically by name in the Bible. Um...he's the patron saint of Argentinian ambassadors? *laugh*

Gabriel's spells: Aquadyne, Refresh Ring, Divine Judgement, Summon Spirit, Recarm Dora, Release Jail, Heat Wave

Eriko is a Virgo. (another description). As with Libra, Virgos are extremely cultured signs who like analyzing things down to the small details. They're also very helpful and like to assist people with their problems. Or so the story goes.

Eriko is a kikokushijo, which is a child who lived abroad and returned during their compulsory school years - age 6 to 15. That's how she picked up all that English. She uses it correctly, and it's in roman letters, not in katakana. In Japan, English use is cool, (witness Eikichi trying to use it!) so her ability would be considered reasonably impressive. She calls her friends by their first names in English - they're KEI and REIJI and YUKINO - and everyone else by something like, "MS. AMANO" and "MR. PAOFU" and "MS. URARA" and "MR. KATUYA." (No, those are genuine ways that those names could be romanized, she's not being an idiot. ;;^^)

So they brought Ellie back! Everyone needs some ENGLISH to make their day complete, don't they?
Q: What was the reason for making Ellie a playable character?
A: Like Nanjou, she was popular in the first game, but there also wasn't much about her in the first game, so we thought we'd do more with her this time. It's not that we left things out, it's just that we thought that we'd delve a bit more deeply into her character.
Eriko learned her English by living abroad when she was a child. If Nanjou is a multi-multi-multi-millionaire, I suppose you could say that Eriko's upper-middle-class.
Q: Is she living by herself at the present?
A: Yes, she is. She's likely renting a one-room apartment. Though she is working as a model, that alone won't suffice, so she's receiving money from her parents, as one might expect. She's not extremely wealthy like Nanjou is, but as she was brought up like a princess, I don't think her family has any problems with money. Her father is a commercial airline pilot, after all. And she has two little twin sisters. She really does have a household like Licca-chan (Japanese version of Barbie). *laugh*
After high school, Eriko went on to college - I'm thinking it's either outside of Sumaru, or in another suburb, because in Tsumi, Eriko said she wasn't very familiar with Sumaru and couldn't help them pinpoint the locations of the bombs Leo had set, other than to point out the correct direction and suburb. She also pursued a side-job as a model. Everyone initially thought that she was doing that because it was her dream - she'd said that she wanted to be a model in high school - but Eriko's smile and mannerisms were very stiff and uncomfortable in front of the camera, preventing her from really rising in the modeling industry. But nonetheless...
Q: Why did she become the target of a stalker?
A: The simple reason is probably because she's the type that he likes, but also because she seems like she is going to become famous from here on. Famous people are relatively hard to come in contact with. She's not too famous yet, and he might have had a triumphant feeling of being the only one who really knows her. Also, he was a fan of hers, but because Ellie is a friendly person, when he approached her, he decided that she must also really like him. I think that it probably happened like that.

Q: Has she had chances to use her Persona up until now?
A: She might call forth her Persona now and then to chat with her. *laugh* "It's tough for you too, isn't it?" She also might occasionally visit Igor in the Velvet Room...because it's a place that disappears when it's not needed. In that way, Ellie might be insuring that the secret path to the Velvet Room stays open. *laugh* Well, situations that require a Persona in everyday life probably don't happen more than occasionally.
But, when the stalker incident began, she started to use her Persona again with all her heart. Even though she refused him, he doggedly followed after her, and one day when she returned home, the stalker was in her house again. Finally, she lost it. Her actions were more out of terror than anger, since it was frightening for her to find that he'd broken into her house. So, without thinking, she called forth her Persona. In the end, her real stalker learned from experience and she stopped seeing him around anymore.
Stalking, apparently, is a major problem in Japan, perhaps moreso than in the US, because there are almost no laws to protect the victims and keep the perpetrators in jail. There's also the element of social shame if the woman goes to the police with her complaint, particularly if the stalker is someone she knows. Actually, the anti-stalking laws were passed in Winter 2000, after this game came out, so really, at that time a Persona was just about the only way Eriko had of getting rid of her stalker. (read more)

So the real stalker was gone, but I guess the idea of the stalker still haunted her - and the possibility that she, like the stalker, would just be viewed as a creepy obsessive annoyance by the person she loved.
Q: Why did Ellie fall for Ibunroku's Main?
A: It was his personality. She couldn't ever tell what he was thinking by looking at him, and he really had it together. I think that she saw the way he interacted with people and the way that he thought about things, and she came to like him. But there's also the Maki issue, and the vital issue of where Main has gone, so it must be somewhat difficult for her.

Q: What will happen between her and the Main Character from Ibunroku?
A: I don't know. She still likes him, but so does Maki...Ellie has cut her hair off, which I think might possibly be a sign of her resolving those feelings.
Whoever Maki was eating and doing other things with at the end of Ibunroku was there just to create atmosphere. The person she's with might be Main, or it might not be. In the end, the player == Main, so if the player hated Maki, it wouldn't end up that way, would it? On the other hand, if the player liked Maki, then naturally, it would have been him there with her...it's like that. How would it conclude, I wonder. I'm interested in that.

Q: Will she continue being a model forever?
A: Right now, she's working as a magazine model while attending a womens' college. But because she's not all that tall...she doesn't seem short, but models in fashion shows have to meet height restrictions of at least 170 cm (about 5'10"). Therefore, she won't continue in that direction, because she's not that tall.
In the beginning, she started out as a model thinking that she could stop putting on appearances and become her own person, but that has to be kind of difficult, because of things in the past. But, little by little she's overcoming that, and I think that she's becoming a lot more natural; in order to be able to meet Main with a good, smiling face.
One of the major themes of Batsu is "shedding your masks and being true to yourself," I suppose. All of the playables have that feat to accomplish, but Eriko is the one in which that struggle is most obviously displayed. She's modeling because she thinks it's what other people want her to do, but her discomfort with her choice makes it impossible for her to smile properly. But in the end, she doesn't express any hard feelings toward Maki, and seems to accept that what the Main wanted was to see her happy doing what she wanted to do.

I don't know, I liked her a lot. I think it was the way she went, "Oh my god! I'm in a parallel world! This is fantastic! It's my first time!"
