WHAT YOU'LL FIND HERE

This is just a small page about the excellent Atlus RPG, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Both Kya and I have played it in Japanese, and I have a crapload of guidebooks and fanbooks about it, so I thought I'd pass on some of the information. There's a lot of trivia and occult references in Megaten games, and I thought I'd take a stab at untangling some of it. There's also a lot of fun character background stuff and Innocent Sin references in Eternal Punishment that aren't fully explained, or aren't available at all unless you have special fanbooks and a working knowledge of Japanese. So, here you go. Yoroshiku.

I did most of the gruntwork for the page, and Kya did a mountain of translating from the fanbooks. I guess it's another Joker-sama and Kya production. In these pages, Persona 2: Innocent Sin is referred to as Tsumi, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is referred to as Batsu. Why? Oh, because I'm lazy, and five letters is a lot easier to type quickly. :D There's also Shift-JIS text on most pages.

This layout is basically the Japanese covers for Tsumi and Batsu, plus maybe half an hour's work with PSP. You might notice that I'm not big on fancy layouts with small text boxes. ;;^^ The font is...what was it, Ebola?

If you have any questions or requests - where did I get that book? What's the name of that? please email me at the address in the sidebar. :D

BASHING OF THE PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATION/COMMERCIAL RELEASE OF ETERNAL PUNISHMENT IN THE UNITED STATES. Trust us, people, it was a good, faithful translation. The changes that they had to make - Guido Kandori, Nate, Ellen, Chris, etc instead of the Japanese names; changing the password to Sumaru Castle; changing the puzzle in the EX Dungeon - were, for the most part, necessary changes and as minimal as possible. There's some stuff that we have translated differently than the commercial release (see: Allegory of Whatever) - In Laqetti instead of In Rakech, the wording of the Oracle of Maiya, and so on. That's because without the proper context of the previous game (and a crapload of Persona goods), those Tsumi references would be hard to translate perfectly.

...did you ever notice on the Batsu cover that Shadow Maya's holding Tatsuya's severed head?
