When Jason and the Argonauts approached Crete, the sorceress-princess Medea told them that Talos's weak spot was a bolt in his ankle or heel. When she sees him, she smiles and hugs herself so that she's holding her elbows. Then the boy notices that she doesn't have a lower half. He tries to run away (or he can't; he's completely frozen to the spot) and the monster chases after him, running on her elbows. He can hear the sound of its "footsteps" behind him - teke-teke-teke-teke-teke....it's also known as "bata-bata" (again, the sound of it running on its elbows) or "The Girl That Runs On Her Elbows." When kids tell this story, Tek-tek carries a sharp saw or a scythe, and if she catches you, she'll cut you in half and you'll become one of her people. Again, this demon used to be said to chase children who played at dusk (see Aka Manto.) It is also similar to the story of the Kuchisake-Onna (Slit-Mouth Woman) and the story of Kashima Reiko.

(Norse) A god of organized war and the brother of Thor. His sword-hand is missing because he was involved in the chaining of Fenrir, the giant wolf. The wolf was so strong that none of the gods could chain it up, so they had to trick him by saying that they'd test his strength by tying him up with chains. Fenrir kept on breaking the chains, so they made the strongest chain in the world out of the roots of mountains, the beardhairs of women, the footsteps of cats, and the spit of fish (all things that don't exist anymore, get it?). Fenrir was suspicious, so he asked a god to put their sword-hand in his mouth as proof of goodwill while the other gods "tested" the chain on him. Tyr was the only god brave enough to do so.
