EPISODE 15: Time to say goodbye

No opening sequence. Well, that's never a good sign.

Robin's thinking about what the others were saying about Amon Hunting his partners. She also thinks about that old woman and the Descendants of Saturn, and the Inquisitor, and she freaks out at the cold, hateful look she imagines in Amon's eyes. Amon, for his part, is looking at Touko in the hospital, and apologizes to her. The STN-J gatekeeper notices someone in black staring at the building from across the street. He tries to tell the guy to quit loitering (as Zaizen drives by) and the man leaves.

Kosaka scolds them for turning the office into a homeless shelter, and Karasuma yells back. Robin raided all of Michael's junk food and is noshing on it. Michael's managed to narrow the ammo down to three top Hunters before security and encryption stopped him. But he can't find out more, so maybe if they could just find out who had recently entered Japan...Kosaka, who'd been standing in the doorway watching, says, "Oh, is THAT all you need to know?" He pulls out his cellphone, and calls the police, where he knows people in various branches, and asks them to find things out for him. Everyone in STN-J is slack-jawed.

Apparently Amon had Touko transferred to a special private room of some sort. Zaizen comes to visit, and is worried, since...he's Touko's father, it seems. Zaizen's been making a lot of suspicious phonecalls, recently.

Robin remembers her mail, but can't get it anymore, since her apartment's been shot to hell. Meanwhile, with Kosaka and Michael's information, they figure that the DNA on the bullets matches a Russian Hunter who entered the country two years ago. Kosaka says he can find the man using his police contacts.

Harry comes to visit Robin with some food; apparently Amon filled him in on what's going on, along with Touko's condition so Robin won't worry. Robin's naturally very confused about Amon, and Harry reassures Robin and tells her to trust Amon, since he wouldn't betray anyone. She eats, and Doujima phones in her report on the Russian Hunter; he was killed two years ago right after he entered the country. So the only other person who can use that ammunition is Amon. As usual, Robin is RIGHT IN EARSHOT for all of this, and she protests. Karasuma's like, "I know you think he's hot and angsty, but look at the facts, and he's missing now, isn't that suspicious?" Robin gets upset, of course.

Amon's checking out Robin's abandoned, bullet-ridden apartment.

Strangely, all the security systems on STN-J HQ go down, and suspicious men in black in black vans converge on the building. They bang on the front gate, and the gatekeeper innocently goes to answer the gate. He's shot in the kneecaps and dragged off, and the gas-masked, armored men move in.

Robin goes to make a cup of coffee for Michael as the MIB take their positions and blast into the fifth floor of STN-J. Everyone jumps to their feet, and Karasuma yells at Robin to run. Karasuma and Haruto grab their guns, but they're quickly shot and brought down, as is Kosaka. Robin is frozen with fear, and barely dodges. As the MIB close in on her, an explosion rocks the side door, as well as a flare bomb. Amon runs in, grabs her, and drags her out. They run down the back stairs, and looks like Amon's locked the elvators and disabled them. Amon knows all the back doors and codes; he explains that she's being Hunted bcause her powers are dangerous. Robin tries to ask him why he's helping her, and asks him about her predecessor. Amon says that he DID Hunt Kate, but she was trying to steal STN-J's secrets, and had lost control of her powers, and then she became the Hunted instead of the Hunter. Amon claims it's A-OK to have hunted Kate, since he didn't have any sense of 'cameraderie' with her. Whatever. The two of them get down to the basement well, and Amon orders Robin to blast a hole through the outside wall while he activates a secret passage in the wall. Robin asks Amon if he believes in her, and he says Zaizen ordered him to oversee Robin's Hunt. But he couldn't do it. Robin tries to drag Amon through the hole in the wall, but he tells her to go down the well. Then he tells her that he doesn't think of her as a Witch, and helps her get in the secret staircase. Then he tells her not to worry about the others, makes like he's going to kiss her, and slips an address in her hair, telling her to go to that person if anything happens to him. He jumps out of the well, and Robin freaks out, trying to climb back up to him.

"Robin, when we meet next time..."

Locked in the well staircase, the terrified Robin listens to the gunshots outside and hears Amon's body falling and the voices of the MIB looking for her. She claws at the well walls, trying to get back to him, whimpering his name.

Amon, who of course is NOT DEAD, just stunned, gathers from the surrounding conversation (about destroyed databases and so on) that this, in fact, was NOT a Hunt for Robin at all.

"Three hundred and twenty years have passed since the coven sank in the dark. A detached past. An unknown future. The sealed present. The forgotten past keeps whispering the words of darkness in a dry cage."
