Something interesting: The first two images are, of course, from the Witch Hunter Robin opening; the last four are from Madonna's 1995 video, "Bedtime Story," directed by Mark Romanek. I just happened to see it last weekend (I always loved the video for the unique, surreal imagery) and when I saw that blue drippy thing with the viscous blue liquid in it, I went, "Hey, wait a second!" (click on the images for a closer look.) Ogham. Ogham Ogham Ogham! Sorry, I find that word a little too much fun to say. So what is Ogham? They're always talking about Ogham Barriers and Ogham Circles and Ogham this and Ogham that. An alphabetic system of inscribed notches for vowels and lines for consonants used to write Old Irish, chiefly on the edges of memorial stones, from the fifth to the early seventh century. Thank you, dictionary.com. (BTW, the 'h' is silent, it's not ogg-ham.) You know all those strange slanted tally marks in those Craft circles or that one of the Hunters was drawing in the dirt? That's Ogham writing. The Opening Sequence for WHR I understand that they're not showing the opening sequence on Adult Swim, so, well, here you go! It's kind of disturbing; Robin is rubbing herself obsessively against a TV which is showing movies of Amon. It reminds me a bit of another old Madonna video, "Take A Bow."
