What's this page about? Well, that's certainly easy! This is an unofficial fansite dedicated to Witch Hunter Robin, an anime series written by Yadate Hajime, the cabal of Sunrise Studio writers responsible for a few small shows in the past few years - oh, Cowboy Bebop, Outlawstar, Mobile Suit Gundam (all series) Brain Powerd, Gasaraki, Escaflowne, The BIG-O - you know, those little series. Witch Hunter Robin is kind of a dark show; it's about a future in which people with psychic abilities of any sort - Witches - are hunted and eliminated by a multi-government agency known as SOLOMON. The show is set in Japan, with the Japanese branch of the agency, STN-J. I'll let you guess the name of the main character yourself. Did I mention that this is an unofficial fansite, and Witch Hunter Robin is property of all those companies I have linked to? Okay, just covering my ass here. "Witch Hunter Buzz Buzz?" If you watch the show, you realize that besides wandering about in dark clothing at night with guns, these Witch Hunters seem to live on a diet of espresso and junk food. Theoretically, the proprietor of Harry's feeds them proper food once in a while, and Robin's eaten soba with Nagira a few times, but I think the four food groups of WHR are: 1. Espresso. 2. Tea. 3. Coffee. 4. Other stuff. I'll leave it to other people to give their WHR pages meaningful and poetic names. ^_^; What's the stuff on the index page? I'm not sure if people noticed, but at the very beginning of the ending sequence of WHR, you see a dimly lit page of writing in the background - it's the title page of the Malleus Maleficarum, The Hammer of Witches - the most famous medieval witch-hunting textbook, so to speak. I've reproduced that front page there, along with two medieval German woodcuts about witches. On the left are two witches making rain through witchcraft, and on the right are two unfortunate witches being burnt at the stake, with the devil hovering overhead to take their souls, I presume. Witch-hunting isn't a nice business to be in, it seems. Who's your favorite character? Now, I know Amon's all dark and brooding and crap, but I'd have to say... Nagira. He's pimpin'! You'll have to forgive me for any inconsistencies/different spellings between my page and the official English release, because as you may be able to tell, I saw the fansubs of the show in Winter 2002 and haven't seen all of the official release yet. |
