Miku's older brother, age 23. A gentle and slender young man, he strongly resembles his mother. He understands Miku better than anyone else, since he has the same sixth sense, and is the most important person in her life, acting as father and mother and best friend all in one. His image color is white, and overall he gives the impression of being both strong and kind.
After graduating from college, he was employed part-time at a publishing house. He was working on an article for the news magazine's year-end horror-story special when his mentor, the famous novelist Takamine Junsei, disappeared. On September 24, 1986, he visited the mansion that Takamine had been investigating, and disappeared inside without a trace...
ABOUT HIS NAME: Since he was the first child of Masato and Miyuki, they took one character from his father's name ("ma") and the image of snow ("yuki") from his mother's name, making the name "Mafuyu" (midwinter).
ABOUT HIS UNFORTUNATE HOTNESS: Mafuyu strongly resembles a young man that the last Rope Miko, Kirie, had been fond of. When Mafuyu entered the mansion, instead of killing him, Kirie trapped him in a strange kind of time loop so that he couldn't escape, and all Miku can see of him is a white shadow just ahead of her and always out of reach. Kirie hoped to merge with him completely so that they could be together forever. Mafuyu, being a very nice young man, felt sorry for Kirie when he heard her story, and tried to help Miku break the curse on the mansion. His ultimate fate depends on whether you got the "normal" ending or the "nightmare mode" ending. (see secrets for information about the two endings)
