THE TACHIBANA FAMILY
立花家

tachi: standing :: bana: flower

The Tachibana house is connected to the Kiryuu house by a walkway and an underground passage. The Shrine Twins from the Tachibana house failed in their Crimson Sacrifice, so the twin Kurosawa girls had to prepare to perform their own sacrifice.

* TACHIBANA ITSUKI ( 立花 樹月 )
"Itsuki" means something like "timber moon."
Hee, Itsuki the Albino Wonder. Actually, he is the "Remaining," and his hair turned white overnight from grief and shock. He seems to have anticipated his ritual's failure, and wanted to spare the Kurosawa girls, Yae and Sae, from the fate he and his twin brother faced. So even before he was forced to kill his brother, he began to plan how to help the girls escape. He contacted an outside friend, the folklorist Munakata Ryouzou, and asked him to take care of the girls if Itsuki could manage to help them escape. He also planned to steal the four pinwheel keys to the passage to the outside of the village right after his own ceremony, when nobody would be paying attention to him. After his ritual failed - he seemed to have been positive it would fail! - he distracted the villagers, giving Yae and Sae a chance to escape. He was caught and locked in the storehouse, where he committed suicide to be with his twin again (as he intended to do from the start). His spirit seems to have been caught in the aftereffects of the Repentance, and lingers in the storehouse where he hung himself. Strangely, though, of all the spirits his is kind and helpful, uncorrupted by the darkness from the failed ritual. He sees Mio through the windows of his cell and thinks that she's Kurosawa Yae, so he helps her. (Why'd he mistake them for each other? Are his eyes bad like his sister's? *laughs*)

* TACHIBANA MUTSUKI ( 立花 睦月 )
"Mutsuki" is "harmonious moon" or "harmonious month," the archaic/poetic name for the month of January.
Itsuki's younger twin brother, who was killed for the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual but did not turn into a crimson butterfly, probably due to his reluctance to die and his love for his brother. Itsuki wanted to escape with him, but he was "too weak" to run. He made Itsuki promise to help the Kurosawa girls before he died. His ghost lingers in the room he shared with his brother in the Tachibana house. His spirit also seems to have been uncorrupted by the darkness.

* TACHIBANA CHITOSE ( 立花 千歳 )
"Chitose" is something like "a thousand years" or "thousand opportunities."
The younger sister of the twins, a shy girl who liked to hide rather than speak with visitors. Her eyes were weak, so Itsuki gave her a little bell to ring so that he'd know where she was and come help her if she got into trouble. Before Itsuki went to distract the villagers so that the girls could escape, he gave Chitose a key to give to his friend Munakata so that Munakata could get into the twins' room. But Chitose was too shy to speak to Munakata, and hid instead. When Itsuki was imprisoned, she heard that it was because Yae ran away, and hated Yae for taking away her only remaining brother. After Sae's ritual failed and she returned with the Kusabi and began slaughtering villagers, Chitose blindly hid in a closet and died there. She also mistakes Mio for the runaway Yae and attacks her for causing her to lose both of her brothers. (Poor kid...but man, that crying is annoying! She's still the most beautiful ghost in the game, I think.)
